Holiday Elves Make Ridgefield Landmark Merry and Bright!

These Ridgefield ladies were CAUGHT red and green-handed on a dreary Sunday bringing holiday joy to the Cass Gilbert Fountain!

The Fountain Elves were at it again! Today, Mary Hicks together with Jacquie Andry, Paula Lovallo and their local-loving husbands, brought the spirit of the season to our town landmark.

Radiant red Poinsettia plants are adorned with white lights, fresh green roping and large sparkling ornaments- making The Cass Gilbert Fountain very festive.

Mary and her husband Steve are part of Ridgefield's Fountain Committee, a group dedicated to the beautification of our town landmark.

Ridgefield’s landmark fountain was donated to the town in 1916 by renowned architect Cass Gilbert, within sight of his summer home in the historic Keeler Tavern. During his time in Ridgefield, Gilbert designed the 1913 Woolworth Building, for many years the world’s tallest skyscraper, as well as the 1935 Supreme Court Building in Washington, D.C.

Did you know? Local historian, the late Charles Pankenier penned a book about the Fountain, Cass Gilbert Comes Home to the Cannon Ball House. It is available for purchase here
