Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Thomas Skillman!

Why did you start your business?

After a 30-year career on Wall Street, I felt it was time to recreate myself and do something new. Real Estate was always an interest so the decision to work locally as an agent in my hometown of Ridgefield was an easy one. Two years later, I am so happy I did!

What is your best-selling product/service?

Utilizing careful listening in an easy manner as well as local knowledge of Ridgefield and Fairfield County, I have been fortunate to transact numerous deals for my awesome clients.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

Many local attorneys, bankers, and home inspectors have been crucial to my success. I am thankful to work with attorneys Dan Murtha and Will Harrison and Fairfield County Bank’s mortgage lender Pat McRedmond.

Local merchants Bella Home, Ridgefield Flowers, and Ancona’s Liquors have provided great insights for the perfect client gifts.

It is an honor to work with so many great people and to represent my hometown.
