On Wednesday, May 31st, Founders Hall celebrated National Senior Health and Fitness Day. Over forty members enjoyed resourceful mini lectures and info booths provided by our generous sponsor Nuvance Health, fun fitness demos including Tai Chi and aerobics conducted by Founders Hall instructors, exciting raffle prizes and a delicious brunch buffet featuring a variety of options like chia pudding, black bean mango salad, Green Goddess dip with veggies, zucchini and sweet potato fritters, energy bites and a hydration station!
After info booths, fitness demos and brunch, guest speakers from Nuvance Health shared a wealth of knowledge with attendees. Michele Lecardo, Neuroscience Coordinator for Norwalk Hospital, spoke about stroke education. Colleen Linari, Nurse Practitioner in primary care specializing in Geriatric Medicine, shared tips for healthy aging. Then Bill Anderson, Senior Physical Therapist, and Shannon Mahoney, Physical Therapist, discussed a variety of physical fitness topics including fall prevention and the importance of exercise.
National Senior Health & Fitness Day is an annual health and wellness event for older adults. This year marked the 30th annual event.
