You're IT Spring Roll Supper Club!

Four questions with Irene Santos, founder of Spring Roll Supper Club.

Why did you start your business?

I've always loved cooking and helping people with dinner parties and events. While working in my job as a nanny, I noticed that many parents in town were super busy with work and rushing their children to activities and didn't have time to prepare healthy and delicious meals for their families so I thought I would try to help fill this gap.

What is your best-selling product/service?

My spring rolls are probably my most popular dish. Known as "lumpia" in the Philippines, they are thinner and crispier than the spring rolls served in restaurants in the US and I've been told by the 7-year-old I take care of that they are "irresistible". They are perfect for serving at parties and I also prepare them for my meal prep clients and serve them with Filipino-style Stir-Fried Noodles with Chicken and Vegetables.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

There are a few wonderful places to purchase high-quality ingredients in town. For specialized products such as Thai Basil for my curries and seasonal fruit and veggies for salads, I always go to Ridgefield Organics. For meats, I really like Ridgefield Prime and for the freshest fish, I love Milillo Farms they are happy to place orders for difficult-to-find ingredients like sashimi-grade Ahi tuna.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

I have made some revisions to my original business plan since I started cooking for families in town. The main thing is that I noticed a lot of people had recently moved from the city or places where they were able to access a lot of different Asian cuisines, which are not widely available in Ridgefield. So, whereas I originally was cooking a range of international dishes, I have now focused on preparing Asian dishes - including Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, or Chinese - at least twice a week.
