Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You're IT Pediatrics OT!
Three questions with Megan Couri, founder of Pediatrics OT.
Family-Focused Pediatric Care In Fairfield and Westchester Counties
Why did you start your business?
I love the idea of helping families in their natural environment. When a child is relaxed and at ease, they are apt to learn and generalize skills better that is why I love working with children, one on one in their home, daycare, or school. Working closely with the family helps develop the child’s fine motor, self-regulation, and sensory integration skills at a faster rate.
Understanding the challenges that a family may face creates a family-centered approach.
What is your best-selling product/service?
Direct or consultative occupational therapy within the home or school is our most requested service.
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
Quite a few. The Toy Chest is where I buy my fine motor OT games and prize box toys. The library and Books on the Common for parent education. I also grab books for children that have large print and lots of colors to promote visual perceptual skills as well as fine motor (turning pages or flipping windows in a board book).
