Get To Know Ridgefield - Charter Revision Proposals

The Ridgefield League of Women Voters (RLWV) is holding a new installment of its educational program series for Ridgefielders to learn about their town government, Get To Know Your Town, on Tuesday, September 11.

The topic for discussion is the Charter Revision Commission, and the proposals that will be on the ballot on Election Day. Jon Seem, Chairman of the Charter Revision Commission, will speak at the event.

This event is free and open to the public. It will take place in Town Hall, in the Lower Level Conference Room, starting at 10:30 am.  RSVP’s are not required.

The Board of Selectmen appoints a Charter Revision Commission every four years to examine issues and propose changes to the Town Charter. The Board of Selectmen decide which proposals made by the Charter Revision Commission will be allowed on the town ballot on Election Day.

According to RLWV President Marilyn Carroll, “The Charter Revision Commission is generally not well understood, but its work can have significant effects on our town. I encourage Ridgefielders to attend this educational program to learn all they can about it so that they are more informed when they vote in November.
