To the Editor,
The Ridgefield Board of Selectmen has requested a modification to the Town Charter to make the positions of Town Treasurer and Tax Collector appointed positions. Currently, these positions are elected. It seems to me, to avoid any appearance of nepotism or impropriety, these positions should remain as elected. I don’t mean to insinuate that our BOS would ever operate below-board, but future Town Leaders may succumb to the temptation and allure of power. Vote NO on Questions 5 and 6 to allow the people’s voice to be heard and to avoid the appearance of impropriety.
