Hands Off Our Schools Gains Momentum, Locals Rally in Ridgefield, Head to Public Hearing in Hartford

Hands Off Our Schools, a Facebook Page and initiative formed locally in opposition to State Bill 454 (now renamed SB 738) is gaining momentum in Ridgefield, Wilton, and surrounding communities with more than 3,000 social media members.

"We strongly oppose the bill sponsored by Senator Looney to force school districts to regionalize. While the group's focus is on SB 454 (now renamed as SB 738), we will watch similar bills being proposed. This group is created to communicate, share information, and coordinate efforts to stop SB 454 (SB 738)," the Facebook Page states.

Yesterday, the group held a Rally at Ridgefield Town Hall. In attendance were Wilton High School students, local residents, government officials including State Rep John Frey and Wilton resident, actor Joe Pantoliano, many of whom are planning on attending the Regionalization Public Hearing in Hartford on March 1. Frey remarked, "Joey will be traveling to Hartford as my guest Friday to personally testify against forced school regionalization."
