Meet the Candidates: Joe Pastore for Ridgefield Zoning Board of Appeals

Editor's note: HamletHub believes in democracy and we recently invited all Town of Ridgefield candidates to answer five questions, giving residents an opportunity to learn more about their candidacy, Town involvement, and reasons for seeking office. If you will be on the ballot on November 5, we'd love to hear from you! Please see the information on the bottom of this post regarding this Q&A opportunity.

Meet Joe Pastore, Candidate for Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA)

What office are you running for and why?

I am running for ZBA because I love Ridgefield and its historic architecture and want to use my legal skills to help preserve Ridgefield’s charm and character.

What do you hope to accomplish should you be elected on November 5th

If elected, my plan is to work hard to preserve the character and charm of the town while balancing the needs and property rights of individuals.

Tell me about your current involvement in Ridgefield

My wife and I have lived in town for 24 years. We have raised 3 children in Ridgefield. I have served on the Board of Assessment Appeals.  We support philanthropically the Ridgefield Library and the RVNA.

Name a few of your favorite books

My favorite book from the last 10 years is Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell.  The premise is that if you practice for 10,000 hours you can be great at anything.

Name a person (dead or alive) who you look up to

I look up to Martin Luther King Jr because he challenged people to be their best and to do good, even when it was not easy to do good.
