Meet the Candidates: Stan Galanski for Ridgefield Board of Assessment Appeals

Editor's note: HamletHub believes in democracy and we recently invited all Town of Ridgefield candidates to answer five questions, giving residents an opportunity to learn more about their candidacy, Town involvement, and reasons for seeking office. If you will be on the ballot on November 5, we'd love to hear from you! Please see the information on the bottom of this post regarding this Q&A opportunity.

Meet Stan Galanski, Candidate for Board of Assessment Appeals

What office are you running for and why?

I am running for Board of Assessment Appeals out of a strong desire to serve my community. As a 20 year resident, Ridgefield has been a wonderful place for Susanne and me to raise our family and we are committed to being active members of this robust and beautiful community.

What would you hope to accomplish should you be elected November 5th?

My commitment is to consistently maintain the principles of integrity, transparency and fairness to the work and decision-making of the Board of Assessment Appeals.

Tell me about your current involvement in Ridgefield

I am an active member of St. Mary Parish; a member of the Ridgefield Bicycle Club and Ridgefield Golf Club; and Vice-Chairman of Kids in Crisis, a non-profit providing services in Ridgefield and other Fairfield County communities. Susanne and I support numerous Ridgefield charities including CHIRP.

What is the biggest crisis facing our town?

Ridgefield is a wonderful town that is blessed not to be facing a major crisis like some other Connecticut cities. Our biggest challenge is attracting the next generation of civic-minded leaders to continue the great work that has been done over the last 20 years that make Ridgefield a very special place. It should not be taken for granted!

Name a few of your favorite books

A few books toward the top of my list are The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho; two books by Doris Kearns Goodwin: Wait Till Next Year and Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln; and Travels with Charley by John Steinbeck.
