Former Governor Rell Endorses Hebert for State Representative

Selectman Bob Hebert on Friday afternoon announced that former Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell has endorsed his campaign for the 111th District seat in the state legislature.

“Bob Hebert possesses an increasingly rare combination of passion, experience, and common sense know-how that will make him impactful and highly effective in the General Assembly,” said Rell, who served as a state representative herself. “I believe he is the kind of leader that Ridgefield needs to preserve the quality of life its residents value and appreciate. I enthusiastically endorse Bob’s campaign for state representative, and I look forward to seeing the great things he’ll accomplish.”

Hebert, who has served as a Ridgefield selectman for 5 years, said he’s proud to have the backing of Rell who, during her days as a state legislator from Brookfield, was admired for her ability and success with working with lawmakers from both sides of the aisle.

“Obviously, Governor Rell has been in the thick of it—she understands the complexities of the challenges Connecticut faces, and I’m honored that she views me as an individual who can make a meaningful difference,” said Hebert, a 40-year Ridgefield resident. “Jodi always sought to do what she thought was right for the state, and I’ll certainly apply the essence of that attitude to

how I approach the job if I receive the honor of residents sending me to Hartford.”

Hebert is endorsed by both the Republican and Independent parties. During his campaign, he has focused on economic and budgetary issues as well as blocking the growing legislative push to see state government take more control of local decisions on education and land use.
