Letter: Say Goodbye to Single Family Zoning in Ridgefield

Say NO to the new zoning proposal at the Planning and Zoning Public Meeting Tuesday 2/9 at 7pm or email planning@ridgefieldct.org

The PZB Chair is taking it upon herself to allow residents in single-family zones to convert their homes into two-family homes all throughout Ridgefield.

The Chair is trying to pass it off using the fancy premise that it’s an Accessory Dwelling Unit. It’s not, it’s an entire apartment.

If her regulation passes then anyone can build a 1200 sq ft 2 bedroom apartment on their home. They can also rent it to whomever they want and charge as much as they want.
This is not what was intended years ago when ADU’s were introduced. Planning and Zoning is now trying to mold this regulation to allow more development disregarding current required acreage zoning.

Changing the entire housing makeup of Ridgefield without so much as a town discussion or vote is the wrong approach
