Pond's Edge Happenings: What You Should Know

Next week the Town will hold a Public Hearing regarding the potential sale of 877 Ethan Allen Highway. The 2.191 acres of land was originally donated to the Town from the Perkin-Elmer Corporation in exchange for septic services at their adjacent office building, which is now known as Pond’s Edge Professional Park, 901 Ethan Allen Highway.

877 Ethan Allen Highway is the location of one of Ridgefield’s two wastewater treatment facility plants that is now being decommissioned as part of the WPCA’s Wastewater Facilities Upgrade Project. The project goal is to meet current permit requirements from the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEEP) and address the aging infrastructure of the 25-plus-year-old facilities. The new wastewater treatment center will replace the current facility at the South Street location, leaving the Route 7 site unoccupied.

The potential buyers of 877 Ethan Allen Highway will use the land as the entrance to a new building with 71 townhouses and 21 apartments that they plan to construct next to Pond’s Edge Professional Park. The $441,000 that the Town would receive from the sale will be allocated to the Town’s ARPA funds.

As with all land transactions involving Town property, a Public Hearing and Town Meeting are required.

Before taking your vote at the Town Meeting on May 10th, get informed! The Public Hearing is scheduled for Wednesday April 26th in the Town Hall large conference room at 7:30pm. Can’t make it in person? All Public Hearings are streamed live on the meeting video page on the town website.
