I am writing regarding the cellular tower proposed to be built (by Homeland Towers) at the Ridgefield Golf Course. I appreciate the potential for improved cellular coverage and safety in our area. However, there has been a notable lack of communication regarding this matter. I live in close proximity to the proposed location of the cell tower. Our community was not informed about the town plans, nor were we informed of the town meeting vote that occurred at the Special Town Meeting on October 11th.
During the Board of Selectmen meeting on September 20th, Mr. Hebert, recognizing the interest of our community, asked if the neighbors of the golf course had been notified. The minutes from that meeting state: “It was agreed that this will be a requirement.” We were not notified.
There is precedent for notifying neighbors of the Ridgefield Golf Course about events on the property, evidenced by yearly written notifications sent via the postal system regarding the hunting that occurs on the course each year. Yet, when it came to the cell tower plans, despite the board’s agreement on notification, we were left in the dark. We could have easily been informed of the plans for this tower. Quite simply, it seems as if the choice was made to not tell us.
My husband and I are two full-time working parents. We have made sacrifices to raise our three children here. The lack of consideration for neighbors who have dedicated so much to building our lives here is truly disheartening.
