Police Investigate Vandalism to Log Cabin at Sturges Park in Ridgefield

Ridgefield residents were walking their dogs at Sturges Park today and sent us this photo of the Log Cabin doors which have been vandalized. The authentic Log Cabin at Sturges Park was unveiled in early January.

We spoke with Ridgefield Police Captain Jeff Kreitz who said that the Department is aware of the incident and it is under investigation. "It's been documented and [Ridgefield] Parks & Rec [Department] is also aware of situation. Kreitz says that the vandalism doesn't appear anti-Semitic.

The park, tucked away at the end of a cul-de-sac on Rippowam Road, is the site of the original “Girl Scout Camp Catoonah” (circa 1950). After it was sold by the Girl Scouts nearly two decades ago, community-minded Ridgefielders preserved from development and donated to the Town of Ridgefield.
