Ridgefield Police Warn of Facebook Account Hackers

Ridgefield Police warn of social media account hacking. "Please be aware of the social media posts you comment on," police say.

The posts that ask questions such as:

"Who was your 1st grade teacher?"

"What was your first car?"

"Who was your childhood best friend?" etc.

Ridgefield Police say, "They may not be what they seem. Similar questions are asked when setting up account security questions. When answering these questions and posting them you are giving out your security question answers without realizing it."

Hackers are setting up these games on Facebook to help build a profile on you. They can then use the information to hack accounts or open up new accounts in your name. Not all of these are scams, but it is good practice to remain vigilant and refrain from participating in these "games." There is no way to tell which ones were created by scammers, police say.
