Ridgefield Police Make Arrest In Counterfeit Currency Case

Update-Arrest Made in Counterfeit Currency Case

On January 5, 2018, several retail stores in town received a counterfeit $100.00 bill as payment for an item purchased. At all locations, the suspect would purchase an item priced at $30.00 or less, then pay using a counterfeit $100.00 bill. With the help of a store’s surveillance video and nearby police departments that had experienced similar incidents, the suspect was identified and located.

On February 22, 2018, a 16-year-old male from Bronx, NY was issued a Juvenile Summons for Forgery 1st 53a-138 (5 counts) and Larceny 6th 53a-125b (5 counts).
