Ridgefield Police Investigate Email Bomb Threats

Today, the nation responded to bomb threats that were reportedly sent via email. The threats caused panic and evacuations in schools, hospitals and businesses throughout the country.

This afternoon, the New York Police Department Counterterrorism unit reported on Twitter @NYPDCT "We are currently monitoring multiple bomb threats sent electronically to various locations throughout the city. These threats are also being reported to other locations nationwide and are NOT considered credible at this time."

Here at home, Ridgefield Police are also investigating reports of e-mailed bomb threats. "Members of our Uniform and Detective Divisions are following up on these incidents. The emails are similar to ones received across Connecticut today. It appears but is not yet confirmed, that these emails are part of a mass mailing." Police reported on Facebook.

You may report receipt of these emails or any suspicious activity to RPD at 203-438-6531.
