We Salute Members of Ridgefield Police Department

National Police Week is upon us - a great reminder to appreciate the men and women on the front lines who serve Ridgefield on a daily basis. The Ridgefield Police Department was established in 1955 and, according to the Town, currently employs 41 sworn officers and 9 civilians.

The current Command Staff includes Chief Jeffery Kreitz, Major Stephen Brown, Captain Bryan Terzian, Captain Thomas Comstock, and Captain Shawn Platt.

Thank you to all of the members of the Department for your hard work and commitment to our community.

According to the official National Police Week website, In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week.

Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

The President of the United States has issued a proclamation in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week, 2019. Read it here.
