Ridgefield Firefighters Practice Train for Water Rescue, Urge Residents to Stay Off the Ice!

Thank you to Ridgefield Firefighters for all you do to keep our community safe. Today, Monday, January 20, with temperatures hovering at 24 degrees, firefighters practice drill included Water Rescue. They urge residents to stay off the ice! While it is frigid out there, the ice is not very thick.

They wrote on their Facebook Page, "BEACH DAY! We couldn't think of a better way to spend a balmy 24° day. Today we trained on sets of skills we hope to never use, Ice Water Rescue."

Ridgefield Professional Firefighters urge all residents to stay off the ice. "During our drill, we did not cut any holes in the ice. We actually fell thru while walking. Although it is very cold out, the ice is not thick enough to sustain substantial weight," they say.
