Ridgefield CERT Conduct Regional Drill as Part of Town's Emergency Preparedness Initiative

Members of the community emergency response team (CERT) tested their equipment in a regional drill this past Saturday, November 19.

Ridgefield CERT is a program of Citizen Corps, the Federal Emergency Management Agency's approach to involve citizens in emergency preparedness, and is funded through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Shown are John Ahle and Carl Kristoffersen. This is one of the many blue sky day activities that Ridgefield CERTS participate in as part of their emergency preparedness initiatives.

The function of CERT is to assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following a major disaster when professional responders are not immediately available to meet the demand for service.
