Parks and Recreation at 195 Danbury Road is open tonight until 10 p.m. as a warming center.
Residents who need an additional warming center beyond 10 p.m. should call the Ridgefield Police Department’s non-emergency line: 203-438-6531.
As more information becomes available it will be posted on the town website (www.Ridgefieldct.org), the town Facebook page, the OEM Facebook page, local media sources and via Ridgefield Alerts (www.ridgefieldalerts.com).
Here are additional updates:
• All roads that are able to be cleared by the town highway department have been. There are a number of locations where trees are entwined with wiring that require a safety crew to clear so some roads remain impassable.
• Eversource has three crews working in town and has not yet provided a restoration schedule.
• Freezing temperatures and slick roads are causing safety issues for Eversource works and they ask that those without power be patient as they try to restore as quickly as possible.
Consider all downed wires LIVE and DANGEROUS. Do not go near downed power lines, poles, or damaged electrical equipment. Leave the area if you smell gas.
Follow manufacturer’s recommendations on generator usage.
