Police Officer of the Year is selected by the Police Dept and reviewed by the Police Commission. In 2022, the award went to Officer Michael McKnight for his consistent high level of service and his many exceptional and life-saving actions.
The Police Officer of the Year award was initiated by the Exchange Club of Ridgefield 6 years ago as part of its Police Appreciation Day. This event was celebrated with a buffet meal for the police at the Leir Center, until COVID-19 forced the Leir Center to close to public events; hopefully, the Leir will re-open for next year's awards.
