Ridgefield Police Captain Raines reports that the search (recovery) efforts have been suspended for tonight. The recovery efforts are set to resume tomorrow morning with the CT State Police Dive Team.

Ridgefield Police Captain Raines reports that the search (recovery) is resuming this morning. "We have dive teams from Monroe and Trumbull assisting us today." We will provide updates when available.

UPDATE: Wednesday, August 16 at 4:40 pm

Ridgefield Police Captain Jeff Raines reports that recovery efforts to locate the missing swimmer from New Fairfield have been suspended for tonight. Once again, Raines says there were multiple departments and organizations assisting throughout the day. "We're being informed by the dive teams that it's been a difficult task due to the amount of milfoil (weeds) in the lake."

The recovery efforts are set to resume tomorrow morning. We will continue to post updates as they are received.

UPDATE: 5:15 pm Tuesday, August 15

Ridgefield Police Captain Jeff Raines reports that recovery efforts are continuing at this time and multiple departments and organizations assisted throughout the day. "The Norwalk Dive Team and the Westport Dive Team are on scene now and are currently searching the lake."

Raines will continue to provide updates and we will share them here.

Ridgefield Police Captain Jeff Raines reports that the search was suspended overnight and will resume this morning. "We have several departments assisting us at the scene today and the CT State Police are on standby. I will provide you with any updates, as I get them." 

Raines says the missing swimmer is a New Fairfield CT man in his 30's.

Today, Monday, August 14 at approximately 4:55 pm, the Ridgefield Police received a call of a missing swimmer at Lake Naraneka, in Pierrepont State Park.

Ridgefield Police, Ridgefield Fire, Danbury Fire, Danbury Dive Team and the Department of Environmental Protection are on scene and actively searching for the swimmer.

The investigation is ongoing and we ask the public to stay away from the area, while emergency services are on scene.
