Leo Nocentelli of The Meters on Fri, June 2 at 8pm
Don’t miss Leo in his Playhouse debut! Leo Nocentelli is a founding member and lead guitarist of the legendary New Orleans funk band, The Meters. Lauded by musicians from Paul McCartney to The Beastie Boys, the band became Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipients back in 2018. Leo wrote the original versions of several funk classics, such as "Cissy Strut" and "Hey Pocky A-Way," and has record with notable artists such as Stevie Wonder, Robert Palmer, Etta James, The Supremes, The Temptations, and The Spinners. Wishbone Ash on Wed, June 14 at 8pm
Formed in 1969 in England, Wishbone Ash are one of the most influential guitar bands in rock history. Equally inspired by British folk, American jazz and R&B, the band did their part to help form the emerging rock ’n’ roll scene in the U.S. and the U.K. Through dedication to the craft of guitar harmony and melody, along with relentless touring, they garnered a vast audience through public approval and critical praise. This year the band, led by founding member and Redding native, Andy Powell (guitarist, lead vocals), marks the 50th anniversary of their biggest selling, multi-platinum album, “Live Dates,” with tours of Europe, North America and the United Kingdom. Masterclass: The Art of Self Taping with Sam Gravitte on Sat, April 29 at 11am
The “self-tape” is today's cross-media industry standard for auditioning. Join Broadway’s Sam Gravitte for an audition filming masterclass filled with tips and tricks on how to deliver your best audition for the camera. This 3+ hour class creates an opportunity for students to work individually with Sam to instill confidence you need for recording successful auditions. Students will be emailed a digital copy of their coached audition to see their improvement following the class. Ages 14+ welcome! Part of the Classes at the Playhouse Series.
