In The Heights - FREE Movie at the Ridgefield Playhouse on Tuesday, Sept. 24

The Ridgefield Playhouse celebrates the Hispanic community with a look at the neighborhood that makes up Lin Manuel Miranda’s first Broadway musical, “In The Heights" on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 7:00 pm.

Lin Manuel Miranda’s Tony Award winning musical, made into a movie and released in 2021, is the story of the tight knit Dominican community outside the 181st Street subway station in Washington Heights. Miranda calls this story, “a love letter to my community.” It’s a tale about little dreams – el suanito- of a better life for the immigrants who live in the community and who own the small local businesses in the neighborhood.

The film stars Anthony Ramos, Lin Manuel Miranda, Melissa Barrera, Stephanie Beatriz, Ariana Greenblatt and is directed by Jon M. Chu.

Stay in your seat after the film when Reel to Real moderator, Cheryl Washington leads a discussion about the film’s themes of racism, gentrification, and immigration.
