Vet anticipates Bronx Zoo lions and tigers with COVID-19 will make a full recovery
It was the zookeepers who noticed that the Zoo's Malayan Tiger Nadia was showing subtle signs of respiratory issues which led to discovering that she was positive for COVID-19.
Jim Breheny, the Director of The Bronx Zoo explained that three tigers and three lions were experiencing similar symptoms so they are assuming that they are positive for COVID-19 as well. Breheny says that the vets anticipate a full recovery.
According to the Wildlife Conservation Society, Nadia and the other cats are behaving normally, eating well, and their coughing is greatly reduced. We anticipate continued improvement in the coming days. We know the cats came into contact with one or more asymptomatic staff members.
