The National Weather Service reports that a strong cold front will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and strong winds Tuesday night into Wednesday.
A fast-moving line of showers and thunderstorms is expected to develop and approach areas well N&W of NYC early Tuesday afternoon and then move east across the entire Tri-State region through the mid to late afternoon. The greatest threat of scattered strong to severe thunderstorms within this line is in the yellow shaded area depicted below. Damaging wind gusts will be the main threat.
A Wind Advisory has been issued for the entire tri-state area tomorrow, Tuesday, April 21 from 1 to 5pm. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph and wind gusts up to 50 mph are expected across the advisory area.
Scattered Strong to Severe Thunderstorms
Damaging wind gusts. This could down a few tree limbs, trees and powerlines and/or cause structural damage. Even sturdy and well-secured tent structures could be damaged. Isolated power outages are possible. Small hail possible.
