The fall Westchester Table Tennis Academy runs through Dec. 13. 14 weeks. Robert Roberts and Rawle Alleyne will be conducting group training sessions for kids three times a week:
Mon. and Wed., 4:30-6:00 pm
Saturday, 10:00 am - Noon
This cost is $180 for one session a week (your choice of day), $325 for two sessions a week, or $425 for all three sessions a week. For anyone who can't commit to the full season, the cost is $15/session. Sibling discounts are available. See the flyer at the club for full details.
Also, we're introducing a new Advanced training session, for players rated 1800+, every Saturday from Noon to 2 pm. Cost: $200 for the season, or $25/session. Details on the flyer.
Now, about the new League Night:
It starts this Thursday, Sept. 11, and continues every Thursday (except Thanksgiving) through Dec. 18.
Each Thursday the participants that evening will be divided into groups of four by rating -- the top four, then the next four, then the next four, etc. Within each group the players ranked first and fourth will form a two-person team and play those ranked second and third.
A tie consists of five matches -- four singles (2x2) and one doubles.
The results will be recorded in the usual way. As always, games count, not just matches. Revised League Night ratings will be posted every Monday.
In addition, the players on each winning team will earn a League Night merit. At the end of the season the player with the most merits will win $100 and a League Night trophy. Second place -- $50. So play in League Night as often as possible!
League Night play will start each Thursday between 7:45 and 8:00 pm. You must arrive at the club by 7:30, or call by then to let us know you're coming (914-741-0738), to be included in the draw.
The cost is $30 for the season (Sept.-Dec.) or $3 per evening.
Btw, the existing League Night ratings were adjusted this weekend to match USATT ratings for anyone who has played in a USATT tournament during 2014. So the new season will start fresh.
Hope to see you Thursday!
P.S. For anyone who doesn't want to participate in League Night on Thursday, the club will still be open for regular play.
