Well, it looks like there are going to be tons of opportunities for out communities to keep up with their reading over the summer. The Hastings-on-Hudson Library, funded by the Friends of the Hastings Library, is one of the many outlets that is offering programs during the summer for families and community members alike. Below is the schedule and information (taken from the Hastings Library's news letter) on what the library has to offer for the coming dog days.

Mondays:
Pizza and Art Workshop with Helen and Jackie
- June 30th & July 7th: 5:30 - 7:00pm
- Children Entering Grades 5 - 8. Themes will be cartooning and the rain forest/Henry Rousseau.
Family Art Workshop with Helen & Jackie
- July 14th & 28th: 5:30 - 6:30pm
- Children Entering K - 8th (Children must be accompanied by at least one caregiver).
Family Game Night
- July 12st: 5:30 - 7:00pm
- FUN FOR ALL! Children to be accompanied by at lease one caregiver. Pizza and soda will be served.
Tuesdays:
Art Workshops with Helen & Jackie
- June 24th, July 1st, 8th, 15th & 29th: 1st-2nd Grade, 4:00 - 4:45pm, 3rd-8th Grade, 5:00 - 5:45pm
- The first part of the class will be devoted to an interactive story about an artist. The children will then create works of art in the style of the artist presented. The artists included this summer are Lauren Burch, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Emily Carr, Wassily Kandinsky. Sign up for session by grade your child is entering in the Fall.

Senior Art Workshop
- July 1st & 8th: 10:00am
- The first workshop will focus on Claude Monet and the second will focus on Vincent Van Gogh. A light breakfast will be served.

Let's Pretend with Nora
- June 17th, 19th, 24th, 26th, July 1st, 3rd, 8th, 10th, 15th, 17th, 22nd, 24th, 29th, 31st: 10:00 - 10:30am or 10:45 - 11:15am
- For children ages 6 - 36 months. Children to be accompanied by caregiver. When you sign up, please indicate all of the dates you will attend and the time of the session you prefer.
Out of the Book with Nora & Catrin

Summer Reading Partners
- July 9th, 16th, 23rd & 30th: 6:00 - 6:45pm or 7:00 - 7:45pm
- Teens from Hastings KIDS (Kids Involved Doing Service), a Hastings Youth Council Group, will read with children entering grades 1 - 5. We will help the children fill out their summer reading folders. This year there is only one place to sign up. You must e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. Preeschool Art Workshop with Helen & Seva
- June 18th & 25th: 1:00 - 1:45pm or 2:00 - 2:45pm
- For children ages 3 - 5 years old (including those attending Kindergarten in the Fall), without a caregiver.

Children attending library programs should have a caregiver present in the building if they are not yet in 1st grade. Caregivers of grade school children, grades 1 - 4, attending library programs should leave a contact number if they leave the building. Please give 24 hour cancellation notice to allow others on the waiting list to attend.
- Folders: All children in the Hastings School District who will be entering grades K - 8 already have a folder in the library with their name on it. All those in Pre-K may participate on our Read-To-Me program, just fill out a folder a folder when you visit.
- Prizes: To be eligible for a prize each week - read, then let us know what you have by filling out your reading folder or e-mailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Prizes will be added to the folders every Wednesday after closing and be available to the children Thursday morning.
