September is National Emergency Preparedness month. NYS is urging residents be better prepared in the event of a natural or man-made disaster as part of the Citizen Preparedness Corps and will be holding a two hour training session that is open to the public this Saturday, September 27th at 10:00 AM at Purchase College in the Recital Hall of the Conservatory of Music. The state will have the New York National Guard, the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, State Fire and State Police conduct the training. At the end of the training, participants will receive a emergency "go bag" filled with emergency supplies (1 per household). Anyone interested must register in advance at www.prepare.ny.gov.
