On View Thursday, September 20 - Saturday, October 27
Opening Reception: Thursday, September 20, 5-7 PM

There are many ways to curate an exhibition. You can display artists with similar or juxtaposing styles. You can focus on a specific medium. The unifying factor in 5x7 is the size: each work fits onto a 5”x7” wooden board.

The artists managed to fit a great deal of beauty and intrigue within the limited parameters of 35 square inches. Despite the identical size and shape of each piece, you’ll find a great deal of variety. You’ll find traditional media (acrylic, watercolors, photography) as well as unexpected media (duct tape, encaustic paint with paper, alcohol ink). The range of style, technique, and subject matter is also quite remarkable. In total more than 50 participating artists created more than 100 art works for this exhibition.

In addition to size, the other unifying factor is price. Each piece is available for sale for only $50! For many of the artists, you will never have another opportunity like this to own their work at such a low price. Each art work was generously created and donated by the artists so that 100% of the proceeds can support the outreach programs at The Rye Arts Center.

The art works will go on sale when the doors open for the opening reception (Thursday, September 20, 5pm). We expect that many of the pieces will be sold within minutes, so don’t be late! The art works will remain on view through October 27.

In addition to the opening reception, we invite you to join us every Thursday evening at 5:00 pm during the exhibition for "Meet the Artist" mini-receptions!
