Although I was bummed (and my kids were devastated) when Learning Express moved away from Purchase Street, I was happy that the space was quickly occupied by the beautiful, new Fig Linens and Home. The shop has a fresh and chic feel, and owner, Carlin van Noppen, has a great eye for gorgeous pieces. I recently had the opportunity to chat with Carlin about Fig. Here's the story:
Who are you and what do you do?
"We are Fig Linens and Home. We’ve existed in Westport, Connecticut for more than a decade as Fig Linens. At our new venture in Rye, we are offering bed, bath and table linens as well as accessories, art, furniture, vintage pieces, custom headboards and design services and more!"
How did you get started?
"The original plan was to have a home store, but there was an obvious demand for linens. Here in Rye, there’s an opportunity to offer so many additional products, as well as home design services."
Why is what you do important?
"Fine linens will always be relevant. They are exquisitely beautiful and offer superior comfort, as well as giving a home that little something extra…making a house a home. We offer heirloom quality napkins with monograms and hemstitch - just very special pieces."
Why did you choose Rye?
"When looking for a new location, I fell in love with the community. The town is beautiful, classic New England and still has a small-town feel. The people who live here love their town and its stores and restaurants...and this sold me on the idea of Rye."
