The Westchester Children’s Museum is celebrating its first birthday with a party for everyone: first time visitors, repeat visitors, longtime supporters and new friends are invited! The Museum Galleries will be filled with fun hands-on activities and special “Exploration Stations” set up throughout the expansive space of our historic landmark site. The stations will feature interactive experiences in art, science, music, engineering, storytelling, and creative play. A special center stage will feature a variety of performances throughout the day.
The Westchester Children’s Museum opened the doors of its 6,500-square-foot Hoch Laager Boardwalk Galleries in March 2016. Since opening, more than 40,000 visitors have visited the Museum; ahead of its projected first year operating goals. Nearly 800 families have become Members and the rate of monthly visitors has steadily increased since opening. The Boardwalk Galleries are the first phase of the Museum’s full construction program, plans are underway to complete architectural and exhibit development of its 22,000-square-foot space.
“The steady rate of growth of the Museum since opening a year ago, and the range of visitors from all over Westchester County, as well as Putnam, Rockland, New York City, and beyond, demonstrates the hunger and the need in our community for an institution that provides enriching educational experiences for families,” comments Tracy R. Kay, Executive Director of the Westchester Children’s Museum. “We are happy to be able to fill this void for children, families, schools, and community groups and pleased to mark this success with a great birthday party!”

- Ball Wall – balls, tubes and tracks to create ball runs that explore speed and obstacles
