Level Up Village Coming to Rye

LEVEL UP VILLAGE PREPARES CHILDREN FOR JOBS OF THE FUTURE

A Pioneer in Global STEAM Enrichment, Level Up Village (LUV) Runs Courses at 50+ U.S. Schools and Community Organizations in 12 States, including Rye Arts Center

LUV Offers a Complimentary 3D Printer for Schools, Libraries and Community Centers that Run Global Inventors

Level Up Village (LUV) announced it has launched its fall semester at schools and community organizations across the tri-state area, including Rye Arts Center and a number of public and private schools in both Westchester and Fairfield County. Now in 20 countries, LUV has partnered with more than 50 U.S. partner schools and community organizations in 12 states and over 30 global partner organizations. The company prepares children for the jobs of the future with pioneering Global STEAM (STEM + Arts) enrichment courses that promote design thinking and one-to-one collaboration on real-world problems between K-9 students in the U.S. and partner students in developing countries.

LUV’s STEAM courses cover topics such as 3D printing, coding, anatomy, chemistry of water, Minecraft and physics, Javascript, and engineering for young children. By partnering with LUV, U.S. schools and organizations also directly sponsor Global STEAM education in developing countries. A portion of the tuition is used to deliver the same class to students at one of LUV’s Global Partner organizations, many of whom are living on less than $2 per day.

“Level Up Village courses help schools and community organizations move to the forefront of both STEAM education and global citizenship. Our goal is to help students acquire the skills they need for the 21st century in a way that is both globally and socially relevant,” said Neesha Rahim, Co-Founder, Level Up Village. “We make it easy for our partners to implement our leading-edge STEAM curricula by giving them everything they need, including comprehensive teacher training, supplies, and careful management of the global collaboration process.”

Rye Arts Center first partnered with Level Up Village in 2014 by running Global Inventors/3D printing in partnership with children in Pakistan, and will offer two more Level Up Village courses starting in mid-September: Global Minecraft City Builders and Global App Developers.

Schools, libraries and community organizations that sign up for LUV’s Global Inventors/3D printing after-school package also receive a complimentary 3D printer, often the first in the building or a great addition to an existing Maker Space. In the course, students in the U.S. collaborate one-on-one with students at one of LUV’s Global Partner organizations to design, print and test solar-powered 3D-printed flashlights for use by Global Partner students, who often live in energy-poor areas. Students master the Engineering Design Process and learn to apply design thinking to a real-life problem, while gaining significant global perspective.

The Global Inventors after-school package includes:

  • Global Inventors/3D printing course after school or summer course for ten students
  • a 3D Systems’ Cube® 3D printer (http://cubify.com/cube)
  • two cartridges
  • comprehensive teacher training
  • ongoing curriculum support
  • access to LUV’s cutting-edge Global Communication Platform
  • Global Partner Management

Level Up Village will host an informational coffee on Wednesday Sept. 16 at 9am at Le Pain Quotidien on 30 Purchase Street in Rye, New York, for PTA parents and educators in Rye and surrounding towns, who are interested in running LUV’s global STEAM courses at their schools and community organizations.  Coffee participants will receive a variety of STEAM (STEM + Arts) resources they can implement immediately, at home and in their schools.
