White Plains Performing Arts Center presents New York Regional Premiere of Heathers the Musical

Authors and Original Off-Broadway Cast Members to participate in Talk-Back following Sunday matinee

White Plains Performing Arts Center is proud to present the New York Regional Premiere of Heathers the Musical, playing for two weekends only at the White Plains Performing Arts Center October 14-16 and October 21-23.

Heathers the Musical is a hilarious AND heartfelt new show based on the greatest teen comedy of all time - the 1989 classic film Heathers written by Daniel Waters which starred Winona Ryder, Christian Slater and Shannen Doherty. With its moving love story, laugh-out-loud comedy and unflinching look at the joys and anguish of high school.

This darkly delicious story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy, beautiful teenage misfit who hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerberg High: the Heathers. But before she can get comfortable atop the high school food chain, Veronica falls in love with the dangerously sexy new kid J.D. When Heather Chandler, the Almighty, kicks her out of the group, Veronica decides to bite the bullet and kiss Heather’s aerobicized ass… but J.D. has another plan for that bullet. Heathers the Musical has a book, music and lyrics by Kevin Murphy (Reefer Madness) & Laurence O’Keefe (Legally Blonde the Musical).

“I dream of the day when bullying and school violence is just a memory of a time when our ignorant society just didn't know any better and couldn't help themselves from searching out and destroying others who were different on any level. Unfortunately, we kill what we don't take time to understand.” said director Jeremy Quinn. “But thankfully, Heathers The Musical lets us take a small breath for a moment and laugh at how ridiculous this concept really is while acknowledging that it can totally be rectified just by getting to know someone and finding a way to love and accept them for who they are. If a raunchy, guilty pleasure, pop musical is what it takes; Heathers should be required viewing.”

The cast features the talents of Mark Bacon, Jack Boice, Bridget Carrow, Nathan Cockroft, David Thomas Cronin, Coleman Cummings, Kerri George, Deanna Giulietti, John Mezzina Hannigan, Jay Howard, Carolina Jarufe, Kristen Kane, Ethan Kirschbaum, Sarah Kleist, Mary Mondlock, Chaz Ocasio, Dara Orland, Jack Plozay, Shelby Ringdahl, Jara Skagfjord, Shawn William Smith, Madison Washer and Melody Wilson.

The creative team features Direction by Jeremy Quinn, Music Direction by Stephen Ferri, Choreography by Lexie Fennell Frare, along with Scenic Design by Gabriel Firestone, Lighting Design by Matt Guminski, Costume Design by Molly Seidel and Sound Design by Jonathan Hatton and Scott Tunkel.

We are pleased to announce that following the Sunday, October 16 matinee a very special talk-back will occur featuring the authors and some of the original Off-Broadway cast members with the WPPAC cast.
