Today’s severe Nor’easter storm continues to impact Scarsdale and will do so through the night into tomorrow morning. Currently 33 roads throughout the Village are closed and remain impassable due to downed power lines from felled trees. Public Works crews have cleared roughly 57 trees from reported locations and continue to remove trees from roadways, provided downed power lines are not also present.
We await the arrival of Con Ed crews to safely cut electrified power lines and clear the remaining felled trees. Based on the regional nature of this event, volume of outages, and severity of the damage, Scarsdale residents should expect power restoration and road clearing work to continue through the weekend, and most likely into next week.
Con Ed reports over 54,000 power outages among their 300,000 Westchester customers. A total of 1,533 separate power outages are reported in Scarsdale. A Con Ed municipal liaison is on-site at the Village Emergency Operations Center working with Village management to assess the damage and prioritize restoration.
Please be advised that the severe weather State of Emergency remains in effect until further notice. Vehicular and pedestrian traffic is prohibited on any Scarsdale street for the safety of residents and to facilitate the restoration work. The Village will lift these emergency provisions as soon as roads and sidewalks are safe for travel.
Any storm related questions should be directed to the Emergency Operations Center at (914) 722-1150. Con Ed can be reached at 1-800-752-6633 to report electrical power outages and check on restoration status. The Village will continue to provide periodic updates as the restoration work progresses. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
