Good morning, this is Scarsdale Village Manager Stephen Pappalardo with an important message regarding the Nor'easter storm restoration efforts. Public Works crews continue to work clearing trees, and debris and opening roadways not impacted with downed power lines. Con Edison has assigned a line cutting crew to the Village who are working to safely cut electrified power lines, utilizing the Village's inventory of street closures, so Village crews can remove the trees and begin opening these roads. In addition, Village Building Inspector is currently inspecting the safety of certain homes damaged by felled trees.
Con Ed is currently reporting over 58,000 power outages of their 300,000 Westchester customers, with over 1,500 outages in Scarsdale. A Con Ed Municipal Liaison is on-site at the Village Emergency Operations Center working with Village Management to continue updating damage assessment and prioritizing restoration. Based on the regional nature of this event and the volume of outages and severity of the damage, Scarsdale residents should expect power restoration and road clearing work to continue through the weekend and into next week.
Please be advised that the severe weather State of Emergency remains in effect until further notice. Other than for emergency purposes, vehicular and pedestrian traffic is prohibited on any Scarsdale street for the safety of residents and to facilitate the restoration work. As such, please be advised that all Village of Scarsdale Recreation Department programs scheduled for today, Saturday, March 3, have been cancelled. Additionally, please be reminded that if you must go outside, to stay away from any power lines or wires, and do not remove any barricades or Police tape. Please call the Police Department at 722-1200 if barricades and tape need to be restored at any location. The Village will lift these emergency provisions as soon as roads and sidewalks are safe for travel.
The Village Emergency Operations Center remains open and all storm related calls should be directed to the Center at 914 722-1150. Please call 911 for all emergency calls and use (914) 722-1200 if calling from a cellular phone. Con Ed can be reached at 1-800-752-6633 to report electrical power outages and check restoration status.
The Village will continue to provide periodic updates as the restoration work progresses. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
