It is with regrets and shared disappointment that, due to circumstances outside of our control, DeCicco & Sons must announce the delay of the opening of our much-anticipated Somers location.
“A new opening date is still uncertain, and although we are ready to open the store at any time, we don’t expect to be able to do so until perhaps March,” explained DeCicco & Sons Vice President, Chris DeCicco. “Although the delay is unfortunate and inconvenient, with a project of this complexity, you have to expect the unexpected and roll with the punches,” he continued.
The DeCicco & Sons Somers location is situated adjacent to the Heritage Hills community of Somers, and will be interconnected to Heritage Hills for certain water usage needs.
“The issue is actually a complex one, and relates to both fresh and waste water that will be used, not only by our store, but also other commercial properties and planned residential properties in the vicinity. Making sure that everything is done in a way that complies with all legal and environmental considerations can be time consuming, and has included some unforeseen challenges” explained Michael Puma, Director of Operations for DeCicco & Sons; “at the moment, until the water infrastructure for the area satisfies all relevant state and county agencies, we are in a holding pattern.”
DeCicco & Sons new 20,000 square foot Somers store will feature indoor and outdoor balcony seating, a bar with kitchen, and a lounge and catering space. The store will also include fresh food stations like a salad bar, hot food bar, antipasti bar, a juice and coffee bar, and the wide selection of grocery and specialty items, meat, poultry, seafood and produce for which DeCicco & Sons has become so well known.
