Putnam County Land Trust’s Breakfast with the Birds

Putnam County Land Trust’s Breakfast with the Birds, a bird watching and breakfast event returns this year on Saturday, May 6th (rain date May 7th).

For thousands of years, songbird have migrated through the Ice Pond Basin which is part of the Great Swamp which begins in Brewster and extends through Patterson and into Dutchess County.

The Bird Walk gets underway at 7:30 a.m. Noted naturalist, Jim Nordgren will lead this walk and help participants spot and identify the Basin’s migratory songbirds. Coffee will be available prior to the walk. Breakfast will be served when the walk ends.

“This is a great opportunity for caregivers and children to enjoy the beauty of spring together out in the natural world,” said PCLT President Judy Terlizzi. “Hopefully, everyone will come to understand and appreciate Putnam County’s rich environment and resources.”

The birding expedition and breakfast are free, but BYOB (Bring Your Own Binoculars). Reservations are required. Directions will be provided upon registration.
