Parade and Tree Lighting Displays New Fairfield Holiday Spirit

The 7th annual New Fairfield Holiday Light Parade and Tree Lighting was held on Nov. 24, 2018. The event is organized by the Town of New Fairfield Parks and Recreation department and began in the afternoon at the Library, where Santa and the Gingerbread Man were waiting eagerly for the kids to arrive with their lists. Local businesses were celebrating small business day offering discounts and free treats at Sarah’s Gift and Ship, The Goodie Shoppe, The Food Center, Bruno’s, and Olde 37 Patio and Grille. It was a lovely day for families to walk around town enjoying the events.

As dark began to fall, many local organizations and businesses came out showing their holiday spirit with floats and decorated vehicles. The parade attendees followed the parade to memorial field where Santa lit the town tree as the High School Chamber Choir sang carols. Free refreshments were provided by Starbucks, The Senior Center, St. Edward’s Church, People’s United Bank and Neumann Real Estate. It was a fun small town welcome to the upcoming Holiday season.
