Nearly 1,500 LBS of Halloween Candy Donated For Soldiers’ Angels Treats for Troops Program

Hudson River Financial FCU members, staff and community partners came together to collect and donate 1,486 pounds of Halloween candy to Soldiers’ Angels for their annual Treats for Troops donation drive.  This collection doubled the amount of candy collected by the Credit Union last year, when Hudson River Financial began participating as a drop-off site for Treats for Troops, and significantly exceeded the donation drive’s goal of 1,000 pounds.  The candy will be distributed by Soldiers’ Angels to deployed service members around the world as well as to veterans in VA hospitals nationwide.

“We are thankful that our members, employees and our community came together to donate so much candy to a great cause in the Credit Union spirit of People helping People” said Thomas J. Powers Jr. President and CEO of Hudson River Financial FCU.  “The fact that we were able to far exceed both last year’s total and this year’s goal shows the level of appreciation that we all have for our nation’s military and veterans.  We thank them for their dedicated service, and thank Soldiers’ Angels for the great work they do.”

Hudson River Financial FCU would like to thank its members for their generosity in giving back to our nation’s military and veterans through Treats for Troops.  Of particular note are Pronto Printer in Cortlandt Manor, NY, who assisted the Credit Union with packing and shipping the donations, and eight organizations that signed on with the Credit Union as official partners in the campaign.  These include:

Somers High School in Somers, NY; Somers Intermediate School in Somers, NY; Yorktown High School’s National Honor Society in Yorktown NY; Goldfish Swim School in Yorktown Heights NY; Edenwald School in Pleasantville, NY; Woodside Elementary School in Peekskill, NY; George Washington Elementary School in Mohegan Lake, NY; and Katonah Mind and Body in Katonah, NY.
