Aversano’s Raises over $30k in Relay for Life

For Aversano’s Restaurant & Pizzeria in Brewster, the mission to support Relay for Life  is deeply personal. Adeline Aversano, mother of owners Paul and John, lost her fight with cancer three years ago.

“Mom kept a positive attitude throughout her journey, whether she was going to chemo, the hospital, or rehabilitation,” said John. “She made it a social event, often talking to people and making new friends. During her trips she gave advice to those that asked and joked with the aides, nurses, and doctors. Mom was a cheerleader to other cancer patients telling them “that they could do it” and “keep up the good work."

In her final years, she picked up a hobby of making what became “her signature flower pens.” She always carried some around with her and gave them out to whomever she met along the way. It was her way of spreading beauty and love to those around her, and it was only fitting that her flower pens filled the Team Adeline gift bags at this year’s Relay for Life event. “She navigated life well and our family hopes that just a part of her “Legacy of Love" lives on in everyone that she touched.”

Brewster’s Relay for Life was held on June 5 and Aversano’s is happy to report that this year they raised $8,100. To date they have raised over $30,000 for the cause. “Our heartfelt thanks goes out to all who have supported Team Adeline. We can’t think of a better way to honor our mother,” remarked Paul.
