Somers Townwide Cleanup Day

The following is the text of a letter sent out to Town of Somers residences and businesses by Somers Town  Supervisor Rick Morrisey on April 10, 2019 asking for the residents and business owners help in the Towns Annual Spring Clean Up.

Dear Somers Resident and Business owner;

On behalf of the Town of Somers and the Somers Litter Task Force, we are requesting that all residents and businesses in Somers, participate in the Annual Somers Spring Town-Wide Litter Clean Up days. As you know, litter on our roadsides in Somers continues to plague us and without the help of our local residents and businesses and volunteers, the litter would be insurmountable. 

We are reaching out to you now, as the Annual Spring Town-Wide Litter Clean Up has begun and runs through June 1. 2019. We understand that your time is valuable, so we are asking for everyone to just start by cleaning up your property's road frontage and if safe, help clean up the area across the road from your property, as well. If you are physically able and would like to venture beyond your property road frontage, please feel free to choose your favorite road or the road on your commute or just any road that is in dire need of cleaning. 

Please be very careful when cleaning roadside litter. Be sure to always face traffic and never turn your back to oncoming cars. If you do not have a safety vest, please wear brightly colored clothing, so you can be seen by drivers.
