Sharing Space: Julius Caesar Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival

Join SPACE on Ryder Farm for an outdoor performance of Julius Caesar from Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival's touring company, presented on the Ryder Farm Bowling Green. A charismatic war hero on the brink of kingship, Caesar is celebrated by the people of Rome – but mistrusted by some of his closest friends who fear his popularity will throw the country into chaos. Plots are hatched and factions emerge, and in the end, 23 daggers and the fall of a few guilty players lead The People to violent justice. In our immersive, 80-minute production, audiences will help bring this anachronistic tale of betrayal to life with their own movement and voices, constructing a post-apocalyptic world of power and consequence. By William Shakespeare, Directed by Illana Stein Grounds open at 5pm. Come early for a tour of Ryder Farm and bring your picnic basket! In the event of rain, performances will be relocated to one of Ryder Farm’s historic buildings. Adult tickets are $5 and youth tickets are free. Recommended for ages 10 and older. -- Sharing SPACE invites the surrounding community to Ryder Farm for a weekend of performances from neighboring Putnam County arts organizations.
