Demystifying Medicare Online Presentation. The Westchester Library System is offering an opportunity to learn how Medicare works, since a complete understanding of the whole system is key to making the best personal health insurance decisions.  This interactive online workshop allows participants a chance to absorb audio chapters at their own pace and refer to downloadable handouts.  Demystifying Medicare is designed not only for people currently enrolled in Medicare, but for those soon to be 65 or helping relatives and friends with their medical decisions and paperwork. Topics include Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage Plans, prescription drug plans, Medigaps (supplemental plans), EPIC, and cost-saving programs for people with limited resources. Virtual Program: Race Amity of Northern Westchester & Putnam. Sunday, November 8, 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Please join us for our monthly discussion as we work to advance cross-racial and cross-cultural amity to impact the public discourse on race.  Our monthly meetings feature speakers, screenings, and presentations where discussions are aimed at educating one another on who we really are. Topics will be announced closer to the meeting date. We are all One Human Family! Virtual Art: Monday Painting Classes with Judika Continues!  Mondays, November 9, 16, 23 & 30, 11:00am - 12:30pm. The art classes on Zoom will continue with Judika Lieberman, local Somers artist. Each week, a new painting is offered. Step by step instructions are given to help you complete yur masterpiece. Or, if you like, you can choose to join our art community and paint on your own. If you want, you can avail yourself of help and critiques from the group. Bring your art supplies and enthusiasm to the session! Classes are limited to 25 people.
 
Art for Stress Relief. Tuesdays, 11/10, 11/17, 12/1 & 12/8, 7:00 pm - 8:15. Creating Art can be an incredible way to heal and destress. It is becoming a very effective personal wellness tool during these very challenging times.  Working on art, while reducing stress and anxiety, will keep you feeling calm and centered.  These 4 week Art for Stress Relief Sessions will be presented by Anne Zimmerman, Westchester County artist, educator and therapeutic art coach. Space is limited to 12 participants. The classes are as follows: 
  • Class 1 (11/3): Intention Word Doodles - Supplies:  paper, pencil, markers, colored pencils and crayons
  • Class 2 (11/10): Visualization Collage - Supplies:  magazines, 11 x 14 in paper, scissors, glue stick, markers and or colored pencils
  • Class 3 (11/17): Zentangles - Supplies:  paper or sketch pad, pencil, very thin black sharpies
  • Class 4 (12/1):  Thoughtful Watercolor Resist - Supplies:  white crayon(s), 9x12 in or 11x14 in watercolor paper ( 2 or 3 sheets each), inexpensive Watercolors, water     
8 Ways to Keep Your Student Focused, On-Track, and On-Task in the New Learning Environment. Wednesday, November 4, 7:00 - 7:30 pm. For Parents of Middle and High School Students (Grades 6th - 12th). In a 30-minute highly dynamic, action-specific, and interactive webinar, parents are invited to learn a few tips, tools, and strategies to support their student's learning, whether they are attending school remotely or hybrid. In this seminar, parents will learn: ~ What are the 8 things you can do to optimize your student's learning practice ~ How to keep your student on track and on task ~ How to establish and maintain accountability ~ Should your student study with friends How can you minimize distractions ~ How can you reduce your student's stress and anxiety. This event is limited to 25 participants.
