Virtual Program: Jazz, an American Art

Virtual Program: Jazz, an American Art

Thursday, December 10, 6:30-8:00 pm

Jazz was born in America, evolved along with the young country in which it took its first breath, and became our gift to the world. This lecture covers the history, styles and some major contributors to jazz. We'll talk about the components which are common to all eras, as well as those which are unique to a particular style. We'll compare the elements found in both jazz and classical music (where the two worlds overlap!), gain a deeper understanding of what makes jazz tick, and listen to many examples. Toe-tapping will be unavoidable. Join us! Please register on our online calendar here in order to have access to this meeting. You will receive the Zoom link prior to the start of the presentation.

Presenter: Barry Wiesenfeld. Barry is an internationally recognized musician and teacher, and has performed on Grammy-nominated recordings, performed with award-winning artists and more. For more information about Barry, please visit his website at www.barrybassist.com.
