Somers Library Book Club August Title: The Tiger's Wife
Friday, August 13, 2:30 - 4:00 pm
Join us as we discuss Téa Obreht's book The Tiger's Wife. Téa Obreht's enchanting first novel contains elements of magical realism, family drama, and war narrative. Set in an unnamed Baltic country featuring many passages set in the past, the novel forms a tapestry of people and events as it sets out to capture the personality of an entire region.
The Tiger's Wife chronicles the effects of prejudice, isolation, and war on both a personal and universal scale. Obreht's characters struggle to survive and live meaningful lives under the shadow of a lengthy war and its aftermath.
