Doansburg Chamber Ensemble Features Trio of Flute, Piano and Clarinet

The Doansburg Chamber Ensemble will continue its 2021 season with a performance by its trio of flute, piano and clarinet. This performance will be live on Saturday, November 13 at 7:00 pm at St. Mary in the Highlands Church  (1 Chestnut Street in Cold Spring, New York) and on Sunday, November 14 at 4 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church (2103 Route 6 Brewster, New York). The Saturday performance will be broadcast over the internet simultaneously with the live performance. The Ensemble will perform works by Shostakovich, Arnold, Ewazen and Webster in a concert that can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages. The artists will include Christine Smith (flute), Christine Johannsen (piano) and Alexander Negruta (clarinet).

The Doansburg Chamber Ensemble consists of accomplished musicians who annually present a concert series of outstanding musicianship in a charming, rural church setting. The artists have been heard at major performance venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, and Lincoln Center. Their artistic musicianship will please audiences of all ages.

Miss Smith is a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, Pre-College Division, and she holds a Master’s Degree in Education.

Ms. Johannsen received her Master’s of Music from Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College, where she studied musicology. She is presently working on a PhD in Musicology at City University of New York in Manhattan.

Mr. Negruta received his Master’s Degree in Clarinet Performance from Southeastern Louisiana University, and was accepted to Mannes College of Music in New York to complete his Professional studies.
