Jennifer Gold of Somers Among Outstanding Graduates Recognized at University of Scranton

Jennifer A. Gold of Somers was among the 64 members of The University of Scranton's undergraduate class of 2019 honored for academic excellence, service or both. The awards were presented at Class Night on May 24 on campus.

Students with the highest GPA in each of the University's three undergraduate colleges were presented Frank J. O'Hara Awards for General Academic Excellence, a memorial to the late administrator who served the University for 53 years. Also recognized was prestigious scholarship award recipient Thomas G. McGinley, Glenn Dale, Maryland, who received Fulbright Award to Finland.

Gold, recipient of the University's Excellence in Early and Primary Education Award, earned a bachelor's degree in early and primary education with a Spanish minor. She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi honor society. She served as a Provost Assessment Scholar at Scranton and as president of the Students for Life Club. She also spent a semester studying abroad in Ecuador. After graduation, she will volunteer for a year of service with Christ the King Service Corps in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Somers High School in Somers, New York.
